The two gas holders (each of which has a volume of 3,500 m3) are an essential part of the closed system in which gas meters are calibrated. The entire contents of the loop can be stored in these state-of-the-art gas holders under a pressure of 30 mBar. If the EuroLoop system is used for testing at lower pressure or if parts of the system must be emptied when test meters are replaced, the excess gas is stored in the gas holders, so that is does not have to be vented or flared off.

Environment

With the aid of various sensors that measure the composition of the gas in the system, an intelligent system for filling and emptying measuring sections and a booster compressor to raise the pressure in EuroLoop to the required level, hardly a molecule of gas is lost to the environment. All the gas is used over and over again.

Safety guaranteed

It is essential that the gas holders are safe to use and they therefore have a double-walled structure. The outside is constructed from a self-extinguishing plastic that is blown up by powerful ventilating fans that can keep the holders upright during winds as high as 200 km/h. The inner wall is a large bag that fills up if gas from EuroLoop is stored temporarily. Level gauges measure the amount of gas in the bag and any gas that escapes is detected by means of special detectors. If gas should leak from the inner bag, this is ascertained immediately and the outer layer provides additional safety.
