Basically speaking, EuroLoop’s calibration facility for gas meters is a master meter set-up that has been constructed as a circulation system. During a typical calibration, the gas (normally natural gas) circulates as follows:

  • the main compressor to get the gas in motion
  • the cooling unit to remove any heat introduced
  • the master meter sets of turbine meters and ultrasonic meters (one or more sets in parallel)
  • the meter being tested
  • back to the main compressor

During this process, the reading of the meter being tested is compared with that of the master meters and, in this way, the meter is characterized.
