For pre-packaged consumer products which are sold by the (kilo)gram or (milli)litre, the amount of product contained in the package must, in accordance with the Commodities Act, be stated on the package.

E-mark

If the e-mark is on the package, then the packages from a production batch must on average contain the amount of product which is stated on the package. If there is no e-mark on the package, then the package must contain at least the amount of product which is stated on the package.

A manufacturer or packager can use the e-mark if their package filling system has been certified in accordance with the Commodities Act. NMi Certin has all the facilities and expertise to test and certify your filling system in accordance with the statutory regulations.

Introducing the e-mark system

If you want to introduce an e-mark system into your company, then you must first supply a system description. If the system as described complies with the requirements, then you receive a provisional accreditation and you can start the practical implementation of the system. After the implementation, you can ask NMi to perform an official system audit. If this is completed successfully, then you receive the definite accreditation from the Food and Consumer Products Inspectorate.

If you want to use the e-mark for a short period of time, or if the e-mark has been placed in error on a batch of products, then NMi can certify individual batches of products too. If the batch complies with the statutory requirements, then you receive an e-mark certificate from the Food and Consumer Products Inspectorate, which is valid only for the batch in question.

Export outside EU

For export to countries outside the EU, NMi can issue an export certificate for your quality system. On this certificate NMi declares that your system complies with the European guideline 76/211/EEC, and that the system is periodically inspected by the Dutch government.
