(Smart) Watt-hour electricity meters may only be put on the market in the Netherlands and other EU states if they satisfy the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID, annex MI-003). In addition to the legal regulations, a lot of users of watt-hour meters or smart meters and peripheral equipment set supplementary requirements, such as IEC standards (see table below).

Type examination

To allow quick market entry of the following products, NMi is the obvious partner:

• mechanical (induction) watt-hour meter;
• electronic watt-hour meters;
• for domestic use in various countries and the following peripheral equipment:
• var-hour meters;
• ripple control receivers;
• time switches.

Many governments in Europe and abroad admit (smart) watt-hour meters or peripheral devices based on the standards. Inspections and reinspections may also be performed in your own factory, if desired. Extensive testing facilities

NMi has its own testing facility to test your (smart) watt-hour meter or peripheral equipment according to these regulations and standards and to certify it for various countries. In addition, we can perform extra tests according to additional requirements or specifications. Our testing installation for watt-hour meters has recently been completely modernised. As a result, we can perform tests even faster and more flexibly than before, and you are assured of very short lead times.

Result

You receive the complete test report from us, containing all of the examination results. If your watt-hour meter satisfies the legal requirements, you also receive the applicable European admission documents.
