Measurement systems for liquids other than water

Type examination

NMi tests and certifies measurement systems for liquids, or modules of these systems, against internationally accepted specifications, such as OIML Recommendation R85, R117 and R118 and the Measurement Instruments Directive (MID) that was put into force in November 2006:

  • Fuel dispensers
  • LPG dispensers
  • Industrial measuring systems
  • Cryogenic measuring systems

In addition, we can carry out extra tests for countries that specify additional requirements. We can (re)verify the measuring systems or modules of systems for you.

Facilities

NMi has all facilities that are needed for testing and certifying your fuel dispenser, LPG-dispenser or measurement system for liquids for all countries in the European Union, whether or not on location. Thanks to many years of experience in certifying measuring systems for liquids, we have ample technological knowledge of many different measuring principles, amongst others Coriolis meters and ultrasonic meters.

For measuring systems for liquids with a large diameter that are used for measuring cryogenic liquids, we use third party systems while NMi-experts are always present. After finishing EuroLoop (2009), all tests will be done in our own facilities.

Quick market access

NMi participates in international workgroups such as Welmec and OIML, and is worldwide renowned as a reliable and professional testing and certification institute. You will save much time and money as many foreign institutes and government bodies accept NMI-certificates as a basis for granting approval in the country in question, without requiring new tests.

Our Type Approval Management service offers you all the help and support you need in order to place your product on the market as quickly as possible in many different countries. More than 50 per cent of our customers in the measurement systems for liquids sector come from outside the Netherlands.

Result

If your measurement system for liquids or the module satisfies the statutory requirements you receive an EC-type examination certificate or an Evaluation certificate and the complete (OIML) test report from us.

Compact systems (SKID’s) can often be tested in the Netherlands, which means that you do not need additional tests in the destination country.
