Since the coming into force of the measuring instruments directive (MID) in October 2006 one approval enables you to sell your product in all EU and EFTA countries. This means you need only one approval, which will be valid in 30 European countries. Trade barriers have been diminished and one approval process is sufficient.

One legislation, more options

You will have a number of possibilities to choose from and our well-

Legislation for as each country where the MID is introduced has implemented the Directive in their national law.

This results in the fact that your MID approval will automatically be valid in all the countries of the EU and EFTA. It also implies that countries cannot demand for additional metrological testing in their national law. Again a benefit for you!

Notified Body

Notified Bodies, appointed by the national governments, will take care of the testing and certification of your instruments or your quality and production processes. NMi is such a Notified Body, with over 17 years of experience with another European Metrology Directive, namely the directive for non-automatic weighing instruments.
