Type examination

In the Netherlands, cars, vans and trucks of a certain age must undergo an MOT annually. Various measurement instruments are used to carry out these tests, including smoke meters, exhaust gas analysers, brake deceleration meters and brake test benches.

NMi tests and certifies the measurement instruments used for carrying out the MOT in the Netherlands, in accordance with the statutory specifications. In addition, we test exhaust gas analysers in accordance with internationally accepted specifications, such as the OIML Recommendation R99 and the European measuring instruments directive 2004/22/EC.

NMi offers the help and support you need in order to place your MOT measurement instrument on the market as quickly as possible. Because all of the tests are carried out in our own test laboratory, you’re guaranteed a very short time to market.

NMi has been involved in setting up the specifications for MOT measurement instruments, ever since the MOT was introduced in the Netherlands. This means that we’re always one of the first to know if there are any changes in legislation planned. NMi does its utmost to inform you, our customer, on time, about the nature and the consequences of any changes which may occur.
