Type examination

In the interests of road safety, the brakes on motorised vehicles must satisfy the statutory requirements. For example, when a certain pressure is applied to the brake pedal a car must stop quickly enough.

To check whether a vehicle complies with these safety standards, the deceleration of the vehicle when a particular pressure is placed on the pedal is measured during the MOT, with the aid of a brake deceleration meter. Simultaneously, the force exerted on the brake pedal must be measured using a pedal force meter.

NMi tests and certifies brake deceleration meters and pedal force meters in accordance with the statutory specifications for MOT measurement instruments. If your measurement instrument satisfies the requirements, then you receive the Dutch type approval certificate and, on request, the complete test report from us.

You can come to us too, for type examination of associated equipment, such as manometers. You receive a separate test certificate for this.

For further information about type examination of brake deceleration meters or their modules, please contact NMi Certin’s Sales department on telephone number +31 78 633 2308.
