A multidimensional measurement instrument measures the volume of a package in order to determine the transport fees, for example for the freight in an airplane. Since 30 October 2006, the European directive 2004/22/EC (annex MI-009) applies to multidimensional measurement instruments. NMi has been intensively involved in setting up this directive.

OIML

The internationally recognised OIML Recommendation R129 is partly used as normative document to provide presumption of conformity.

Testing and certification

NMi has all the facilities to test and certify your multidimensional measurement instrument in accordance with this recommendation and to the additional requirements of MID. You receive the complete OIML test report, containing all the results of the investigation, from us.

If your system satisfies the requirements, then you receive the OIML Certificate of Conformity and MID EC-type examination certificate. Many foreign governments will grant approval of your multidimensional measurement instrument based on the OIML certificate. In some countries additional tests are required.
