Type examination
To check the speed of vehicles on the public road, the Dutch police use various different types of stationary speed meter, such as radar speed meters, laser speed meters, detector speed meters (in bends in the road for example) and section control systems.
Mobile radar speed meters and section control systems are also used. In this case, the measurement takes place from a moving police car.
NMi tests and certifies all types of speed meters in accordance with the statutory specifications. If your measurement instrument satisfies the requirements, you receive a Dutch type approval certificate and, on request, the complete test report from us.
You can also come to us for the type examination of speed meter modules, such as cameras. You receive a separate test certificate for this.
Foreign governments, including those in Belgium, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, accept our test reports for speed meters too. Due to our many years if experience and close cooperation with the governments in these countries, we know exactly which tests are required for your speed meter and how the test reports should look.
For further information about the type examination of speed meters, or their modules, please contact NMi Certin’s Sales department on telephone number +31 78 633 2308.
