Type examination

Taximeters calculate the fare for a taxi ride based on the duration and the distance of the journey. Because these devices are used for trading purposes, they can only be placed on the market if they comply with the MID, as implemented in the Dutch Metrologiewet.

NMi has all the facilities and expertise to test and certify your taximeter in accordance with the statutory specifications. If your taximeter complies with the requirements, then you receive the Dutch approval documents and a complete test report from us.

We can also test your taximeter in accordance with the worldwide OIML recommendation R 21.

You receive a complete test report from us, which contains all the results of the investigation. Many foreign governments, including those of Belgium and Germany, will grant approval of your taximeter based on this test report and some additional national tests.
