Some large users of measuring instruments cooperate in national and international organizations.
WIB
The International Instruments Users' Association WIB is an international non-profit organization of end users of measuring and control instruments and automation and steering systems in the process industry (among others in the field of oil & gas, chemistry, food, steel, paper, electricity and water). Most members of WIB are multinationals not only from Europe, but also from the North America, the Middle East and Japan. However also smaller organizations are a member.
Objectives
To offer certitude to the members that the technical information in the specifications of instruments and systems correspond to the real performance.
- By means of exchange of information and experience and by means of tests focused on specific applications, to allow members optimally to specify, select, operate and maintain quality industrial measurement, control and automation instruments and systems, which are safe, reliable, effective, economical and environmentally friendly
- To represent the interests of its members in the development of automation and process control technology and products which are fit-for-purpose, and compliant with mandatory regulations and international standards
International cooperation SWE
To give these objectives as much as possible a broad and international basis, WIM closely cooperates with similar end user organizations in the UK (SIREP), France (EXERA) and Germany (NAMUR).
