The object of a measurement is to determine a value of a quantity. However, similar measurements will not always reproduce the same outcomes and a measurement is only completed when it includes information about the uncertainty of measurements. Many aspects play a role:
- Is the instrument used fit for the intended purpose?
- What is its reproducibility and accuracy?
- Are the measuring conditions sufficiently under control?
- Does the operator perform the right actions?
- What is the optimal measurement method to be followed?
