The object of a measurement is to determine a value of a quantity. However, similar measurements will not always reproduce the same outcomes and a measurement is only completed when it includes information about the uncertainty of measurements. Many aspects play a role:

•  Is the instrument used fit for the intended purpose?
•  What is its reproducibility and accuracy?
•  Are the measuring conditions sufficiently under  control?
•   Does the operator perform the right actions?
•  What is the optimal measurement method to be followed?
