The Krohne Academy 2011 organises a series of seminars in collaboration with Turck, Samson, NMi, VSL, Honeywell and Kema. These seminars are based on the theme “Industrial measuring and control engineering in practice”, focusing on industrial measuring and control engineering and process automation, but also on data communication and fieldbus control. Explosion and functional safety (SIL) will also be discussed.
NMi presents the following lectures:
Basics of flow meter calibration (with VSL)
Calibration of flow meters is based on the Conservation of Mass principle. Both gravimetric and volumetric calibration methods follow this law. In addition, the global discussion of some common methods, traceability and measuring uncertainties and their practical meaning will also be discussed.
The measuring instruments directive in the Netherlands (with Honeywell)
In 2006 the European directive for measuring instruments came into force. Despite the European character of the directive we still see national variations. This presentation explains the reasons for variations and it further clarifies the Dutch situation. The experience of manufacturers will also be discussed.
Level measurement for custody transfer (with Honeywell)
Directives and options for using level measurement for custody transfer will be covered. The use of radar level measurement as well as the directives applicable for the field of application will be discussed. The differences and the advantages of servo and radar level measurement will be explained.
Metrological reliability (with VSL)
In an ideal world, one can rely on the correct performance of measurement systems/instruments and installations. However, in practice this is not always the case. The talk will focus on experience with respect to re(calibration), process conditions, components versus the full measuring system and the correct use of measuring instruments.
These seminars (in Dutch) will take place in Dordrecht, Urmond and Assen (all in the Netherlands) and all have the same programme. The first one starts in Dordrecht on 22 November. For the full programme, further information and registration, please visit the website.
