The OIML Mutual Acceptance Arrangement

The purpose of the MAA is to introduce elements in the OIML Certificate System to increase confidence in these certificates and to establish worldwide multilateral agreements which would offer a wider scope than bilateral or regional agreements.

Under the MAA, which is a framework document, Declarations of Mutual Confidence (DoMCs) will be signed for categories of instruments in the OIML Certificate System. By signing these DoMCs, participants will declare confidence in the test results issued by other participants. There are two types of participants:

  • Those who issue test reports, the issuing participants, like NMi;
  • Those who do not issue test reports under these conditions, the utilizing participants.

All participants will accept test results when issued by the first type of participants.

OIML R60 Load Cells

NMi is an issuing participant for OIML R60 as of 12 December 2007 and since then issued approximately eighty MAA certificates. Several of our clients asked us to perform the additional NTEP tests as described on the OIML MAA website. With this OIML R60 MAA certificate and the test report it is possible to obtain a NTEP approval without or with a minimum of testing in the United States.

OIML R76 NAWI’s

As of 24 September 2009 NMi issued approximately seventy OIML R76 MAA certificates. With these certificates and test reports manufacturers can apply for national approvals in countries such as Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Russia and many more.

If you would like NMi to perform additional tests or test additional samples to comply with local legislation, please contact us as early as possible.
