NMi recently invested in new test equipment for domestic gas meters. The new test bench was installed in the laboratory at NMi Dordrecht in The Netherlands at the end of 2010. This new facility has increased our overall test capacity which means shorter lead times for product certification.

Smart gas meters

Owing to rapid changes in the market many manufacturers are developing more and more smart meters. NMi is now fully prepared to perform type approval tests for smart gas meters. Apart from the investigation of diaphragm gas meters the new test bench can also test smart gas meters using temperature and/or pressure compensation.

Different temperatures

By using a number of sonic nozzles as reference, several meters with flow ranges from 10 l/h up to 10,000 l/h can be investigated automatically. The equipment can also easily measure at different temperatures by controlling an appertaining climatic chamber. Unique to our services will be the possibility to measure at different operating pressures and with different gases, such as air and natural gas.
