Dutch Energy Solutions

FME and IRO set up an export programme, Dutch Energy Solutions, on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. NMi decided to participate as a member of this program challenged by the statement: “The Gulf State Region is the world’s largest energy producer and offers the Dutch supplier industry numerous opportunities”.

The objective for NMi to participate in the trade mission from 27 February to 3 March 2011 was to increase their number of business contacts. NMi already provides services to Dutch companies that are active in the Gulf region as suppliers of measurement instruments or systems. Furthermore, oil and gas companies operating from the Gulf region requested for calibration services to be performed at NMi laboratories in The Netherlands.

Work programme

The focus is on Saudi Arabia, United Emirates and other countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. The preparation with the support of FME and the local coordinating organisation Jella Jella (meaning Go! Go! in Arabic) provided the basis for an active and intense work programme that started with an important meeting held with the Dutch Ambassador, Mr. Ron Strikker, with the Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu.

The meetings took place in an open and friendly atmosphere. The participants expressed the importance of and demand for services and consultations with respect to re-calibration of measurement instruments and field provers, consulting on metering solutions, and training. The focus of the meeting with staff and engineers was to address custody transfer measurement from a metrological perspective.

The Saudi Arabia market is a large market with ample potential and metrology on its agenda!
