The R117-2 draft has already assisted international discussions on test measuring for liquids other than water, but this is in no way a quick solution. For example, the so-called family approach of meters is already being applied by various Notified Bodies.

OIML members had the opportunity earlier this year to comment on the first committee draft of R117-2 (Test Procedures). The International Working Group, led by a joint American and German secretariat, will now respond to all these comments. Satisfactory responses will increase the chance of international acceptance of an updated version to be issued at a later stage.

Webinars in October

Other tasks will be the inclusion of test procedures for initial verification, measuring systems for liquid foods, and pipeline/ship-loading systems, as well as the issue of part 3 of the test report. Because of this high workload, the International Working Group will hold two Webinars in October this year, as well as a two-day face-to-face meeting in Braunschweig, Germany, in November.

Note: It is likely that sections of R117-2 will be published as soon as agreements have been reached. New sections will then be added to the document at a later stage.

We will keep you updated on the latest developments.
