New Dutch regulation on HTG and tank level measurement

In the Netherlands technical metrology guidelines have been developed for tank level measurement, hydrostatic tank gauging (HTG), CNG dispensers, hydrogen dispensers, discontinuous measuring instruments and storage tanks. These measuring instruments are not regulated by MID and therefore fall under national legislation. This new Dutch regulation is expected to come into force in October 2016.

Due to a lack of harmonized standards, lead times between European countries vary greatly between six months to two years. Until now, manufacturers that want to sell HTG type instruments in The Netherlands have to ask dispensation via the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Under the new regulation, this will no longer be necessary. Manufacturers can now obtain a regular type approval by NMi, which will speed up the approval process considerably.
