If your company exports pre-packaged products with an e-mark to Europe, your European importer is responsible for the quantity of product in the pre-packaging. The importer may only import if there are sufficient guarantees about the quantity of product in the packages. There are two ways to guarantee that the pre-packaged products comply with the e-mark rules:
- NMi evaluates your pre-packaging filling system and issues a Certificate of Recognition if it meets the e-mark requirements. More information about the certification process is provided under ‘certification of filling systems’. We provide your importer in the Netherlands with accreditation containing a reference to your Certificate of Recognition. An obligatory annual inspection subsequently takes place to check that your system still meets the requirements.
- Your importer in the Netherlands has e-mark accreditation and performs spot checks on the imported batches, in accordance with the system approved by NMi. Based on the results, the importer assesses whether the batches meet the e-mark requirements.
